WASHINGTON UTILITIES COORDINATING COUNCIL
CALL 1-800-424-5555 BEFORE YOU DIG

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

The WUCC is an umbrella organization of representatives from local utility coordinating councils throughout Washington and Northern Idaho. The WUCC meets quarterly at varying locations across Washington, selects officers and appoints committee chairpersons.

Local utility coordinating councils are comprised of representatives from utilities, governmental agencies, contractors, excavators and support companies who meet on a regularly scheduled basis to discuss mutual problems, work programs and planning. These people have been selected by their various employers to represent their respective companies to work toward the prevention of damages and the coordination of work activities.

Coordinating planning between utilities, governmental agencies, contractors and excavators to reduce damage to underground facilities requires all, who are in any way involved in the sub-surface disturbance, to WORK and PLAN TOGETHER. This is achieved by the formation of local and state utility coordinating councils.

Local and state utility coordinating councils encourage utilities governmental agencies, contractors and excavators, not presently members, to attend local and/or state council meetings.

Through local councils, at the urging of many utilities, permit issuing agencies, contractors and excavators, one number call centers were formed.
